Europe’s migration/refugee crisis is expected to match or
even exceeded last year’s record numbers.
Much of the discussion on what to do centers on the cost of
resettlement and whether EU member countries should accept
quotas.
But why are so many migrants and/or refugees leaving their
home countries? And what about the question of culture?

The flow of refugees, fleeing the
chaos created in the Middle East by the warmongers in the US
and Western Europe, is drowning the European Union in
melancholia and depression. As terrorist threats become more
tangible with each day and with social tensions mounting,
Europeans are feeling more insecure than they have in a long
while. In 2015 Germany alone accommodated 1.1 million
refugees according to the data provided by the German
Minister of the Interior, which put Angela Merkel under
extensive criticism. While European politicians are
launching verbal assaults against each other, some political
observers have started noting that this time the EU has got
too much to handle.
However, as the French online journal La Croix notes, one shouldn’t forget that refugees
aren’t seeking safe heaven in Europe exclusively, since
there’s up to 9 million refugees currently residing in the
countries that have a common border with Syria. In Lebanon
alone refugees account for 20% of country’s population. In
comparison, in 2014 a total of 600,000 people were seeking
asylum in Europe, which roughly constitutes 0.1% of its
population. It is a drop in the bucket for a force like the
European Union, still it chooses to pursue an undignified
(even criminal) migration policy.
It’s a general consensus that this year the EU will be able
develop an effective migration policy, yet, experts tend to
believe that it’s just wishful thinking at best. Analysts of
the Latvian news portal nrv.lv state openly that no one doubts that
migration goes hand in hand with terror. Therefore, Europe
is desperately trying to respond to the new challenges to
its internal security raised by the migration flows.
Therefore, Latvian experts say, basic European values, such
as democracy, freedom of speech, respect for human rights
will not be the governing principles anymore in the new
European Security Strategy. Everything will be determined by
common interests, while journalists in jail and assaults on
women would be but a minor concern.
The Middle Eastern wars will not go
away, as well as smugglers that are profiting off people who
flee their home countries in hopes of a better life in
Europe. While one can safely assume that if the exodus of
migrants remains at its current level, the political
consequences would be grave for the European Union,
especially for German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Germany
in general which will witness a gap between itself and its
European partners growing deeper still.
The Washington Post predicts that the collapse of the EU can
start in 2016:
According to The Financial Times, today the general idea of the EU is truly unpopular in Europe, since it has been riddled with economic difficulties and political division, that stands in the way of accommodating a common policy that would allow to solve the refugee crisis.“Europe was pummeled by crises from start to finish in 2015, with terrorist attacks, bankruptcy brinkmanship and an unparalleled refugee influx combining to leave continental unity in tatters by year’s end.
But instead of relief, 2016 could bring an unraveling.”

EU, US and
NATO are preparing a media offensive against
Russia inside Russia. The alliance aim to operate
propaganda against the Russian government. This
will also reduce the likelihood that independent
media will thrive in Russia.
The «Strategic Communication Team East», as this
operation is called», has already «reached its
full staffing levels» as of 1 September 2015,
according to the German federal government.
Critical voices against this proposal are arising
from within the European Union — especially in
Germany’s Left Party. …
Member of the Bundestag Andrej Hunko, from the
Left Party, said:
«The new proposal is an affront to Russia. The
media force will be subordinate to the Foreign
Service, and thus to the EU's military arm»...
Parliamentarian Alexander S. Neu, also from
the Left, says:
«The EU member
states don’t only build, with NATO’s help,
Russian-language media in the eastern EU Member
States, as is happening with the television
station ETV + in Estonia. In addition, there are
clear indications that even Russian free media are
being funded [infiltrated] directly. The EU and
NATO, the propaganda program against Russia, will
be extended with the start of the operation. The
EU Member States already finance non-governmental
media in Russia, and this means that they
intervene directly in the media landscape of
Russia. Russian perspectives are now to be
neutralized with counter-perspectives, foreign
propaganda. The expected communication offensive
poses a real danger that the relationship between
the Western countries and Russia will become even
more confrontational than it already is. The
logical reaction of Russia will be to outlaw the
foreign financing of free media».
Hunko then adds:
«Now the media and members of civil society will
also be invited to this backroom politics of
propaganda. It is extremely dangerous if
governments and military try to gain information
superiority and pretend that propaganda, even when
and if it’s against propaganda, is instead
news-reporting, not propaganda itself. It is
particularly problematic when the 'Strategic
Communications Team East' as described by the
Foreign Office, even poke at youngsters. Instead
of continuing to rely on media tutelage, the EU
needs to reconsider its policy towards Russia
fundamentally. To say it with the words of former
EU Commissioner Günter Verheugen: Peace is
possible only if no one wants to dominate the
other. This also applies to the media front,
Russia, the US and the EU alike».

COMMENTARY by Eric Zuesse:
This cannot be understood outside its broader context, which
is the West’s overall war to defeat Russia — a war that’s
heading possibly to become a hot war, perhaps a very hot
one. Over what, really?
America’s war to control Russia
is not at all defensive (as is claimed),
but extremely aggressive. Even in 2010, before there had yet
been even a concocted excuse for the West to prepare for war
against Russia, the Obama Administration was already
struggling, behind the scenes, to get Europe on-board with
their aggressive plans, under the pretext that an Anti
Ballistic Missile (ABM) ‘defensive’ shield system based in
Europe, which would protect against incoming Russian
missiles, would be ‘defensive’ not offensive, even though
it’s designed to enable a first-strike nuclear-attack
knockout blow by the U.S. of Russia’s capacity to defend
itself, by eliminating any incoming missile bombs in flight.
It thus would be a way to eliminate Russia’s ability to
defend itself. According to a wikileaked cable describing a meeting between U.S. ‘Defense’
Secretary Robert Gates and French Minister of Defense Herve
Morin:
Morin, having expressed strong
reservations to new U.S. and NATO missile defense (MD)
plans at the NATO ministerial in Istanbul (reftel), said
he wanted to explain how France sees MD and raise some
questions. First, he believes that the shift from Theater
Missile Defense (TMD) to defense of populations and
territory will give publics a false sense of security,
since the sword was ultimately stronger than the shield.
For France, security came from strong defense and
deterrence. Second, Morin asked what threat the system
aims to counter. Nuclear states or rogue states? Third,
Morin asked about funding and how European countries would
participate in command and control (C2) decisions.
Morin summarized his own personal opposition to MD by
asserting that the U.S. and Europe have differing
mentalities on defense spending. He said the U.S. has true
resiliency with «infinite» means, while in Europe defense
spending has collapsed in every country but the UK and
France. As a result, any development needing common
funding will dilute the already weak European defenses.
Morin concluded by stating that it was folly to assume
that MD would give us added security.
7. (S/NF) SecDef [Gates] refuted Morin’s arguments,
pointing out that MD contributes to deterrence.
SecDef explained to Morin that the system was aimed at
nations with a handful of nuclear weapons and a limited
but growing missile capability to launch them.
Noting Iran fits that profile, SecDef said that MD
provides a good deterrent against limited attacks.
In other words: the U.S. ‘justifies’ its
push for ABM’s as being ‘defense’ against what Morin was
calling ‘rogue states,’ not against Russia — and this is
obviously a lie, so Gates didn’t answer that question in
direct words, such as by saying, «This isn’t against
Russia». Gates even went further, to assert that, «the U.S.
believed partnering with Russia is once again potentially
possible». (As if it hadn’t always been possible ever since
1991.)
Later, the cable says, «Responding to SecDef’s discussion of
MD, Morin asked why there was a need to shift from theater
to population defense» («theater» meaning protection of
military forces, versus «population» meaning protection of
the civilian population) and Gates had a similarly
irrelevant answer: «SecDef said the systems the U.S. was
deploying have broader applications. For example the THAAD
system, which the U.S. had deployed to Hawaii as a measure
against North Korean threat, protects both the theater and
the population».
But actually (and Morin almost certainly knew this), the
U.S. had already busted the anti-ABM Treaty with Moscow,
under George W. Bush, and the first European installations
of U.S. ABMs had already taken place. And they were in
Poland and Czech Republic, near Russia — not at all relevant
to a nuclear ‘threat’ from Iran(which didn’t even have nukes
anyway). Bob Gates might as well have been a salesman for
Phillip Morris, as for Lockheed Martin. (In either case, of
course, he was being paid by U.S. taxpayers, not by his
actual clients, the beneficiary military corporations.)
The end of that cable (section 20)
includes this, from Gates to Morin: «SecDef observed that
Russian democracy has disappeared and the government was an
oligarchy run by the security services». So: the U.S.
argument, essentially, was that ABMs are needed against a
non-existent Iranian threat to France, because … «Russian
democracy has disappeared and the government was an
oligarchy run by the security services». Sounds like
a pretty good description of the United
States there: its
aristocracy, and the CIA etc. But the evidence that the
description actually applies to Russia is far less than that
it applies to the U.S. (And here’s more on that, from a different
angle.)
Wikileaks’ book, after reviewing and summarizing the cables
concerning ABMs, doesn’t mince words, when, at the end of
its seventh Chapter, Russ Wellen concludes: «Instead of
wasting time and resources lamenting the effects of the
[leak of] the cables on international relations and
harassing Wikileaks, the United States needs to overhaul its
foreign policy. Continuing to view a state such as Russia as
a rival in a zero-sum game, as well as an energy resource
and an emerging market, instead of as representing a people,
only perpetuates conflict». The topmost of the Amazon
reviewers of this book sums up the entire 600+ pages (as
E.M. Bristol wrote there): «To say that the US … comes off
poorly in this book is like saying the Titanic suffered some
water damage».
America’s anti-Russia club, NATO, has
crept up to the very borders of Russia and demands that
Russians be so stupid as not to recognize what the West is
doing, as if John Fitzgerald Kennedy had been so stupid as
not to have recognized that the USSR’s placing nuclear
missiles in Cuba in 1962 wouldn’t have constituted an
aggressive act by the Soviets and thus needed to be blocked.
Russians are even more endangered now by the U.S.: Ukraine,
after all, directly borders Russia. America’s coup that
overthrew the democratically elected
government of Ukraine in February 2014 and installed a rabidly anti-Russian one there, was extremely bloody, and the U.S.-backed ethnic cleansing to eliminate the
residents in the heavily
pro-Russian far east of Ukraine has been even more so. Even Khrushchev’s intent wasn’t so
aggressive against the U.S. in 1962.
This aggressive intention of the U.S.
government and its allies — extending to Russia’s very
doorstep in Ukraine, Poland, and the Baltics — is so
intense, that U.S. President Barack Obama holds it
even higher in priority than he does the war against the
international jihadist movement, a movement that’s actually funded by
America’s allies, the royal families of both Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The U.S. now demands that Russia not even
try to defeat the jihadists in Syria (which is an ally
of Russia, one that’s being attacked by jihadists hired by
the Sauds and Thanis) — as if the
request for Russian help, by Syria’s President (democratically elected by Syrians because no alternative person
stood even a chance to hold the country together) were
invalid — as if the request for that military assistance
doesn’t have legitimacy, but the demand by America’s
imperial President Obama does have legimacy. Obama simply
lies. He said on October 3rd (1:08 on the video), «We’re not
going to make Syria a proxy war between the United States
and Russia», but that’s exactly what he has been doing.
So, Obama has placed the jihadists [ after
] Russia, as his targets to destroy. [Why?]
Islamic jihad is mainly funded by, and
an extension from, the two U.S.-backed Arabic royal families
(the Sauds of Saudi Arabia, and the Thanis of Qatar), who constitute a genuine
national-security threat against the West, by their ongoing
financing of Al Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other
Salafist Sunni jihadist organizations, which seek to
establish a global Muslim dictatorship. («Salafist» is
basically a synonym for Wahhabist Islam, the Saudi form of
Islam; but it’s the term that’s used for the sect outside of
Saudi Arabia.) As an example of this jihadism: the Muslim
Brotherhood, in its «Who We Are» statement, refers twice to the Salafs (which means
ancestors), thrice to the Sunna, and once to jihad.
(Specifically regarding jihad, it says: «Prayer is the
foundation of religion, jihad is the peak of the [camel’s]
hump, and God [the camel’s rider] is the end [religion’s
rider]».) (And here is that «Who We Are» in English.) Whereas the Thani clan (which owns Qatar)
finances the Muslim Brotherhood, the Saud clan (which owns Saudi Arabia)
finances Al Qaeda. Are these Europe’s allies? Or instead
Europe’s enemies? They’re America’s and Saudi Arabia’s and
Qatar’s tools, so long as they are carrying out their
mass-murders in other countries. As Obama’s advisor
Zbigniew Brzezinski told Osama bin Laden’s jihadists back in
1979 when they were fighting against Russia, «God is on your side». To people such as Brzezinski and Obama,
Russia’s abandoning communism and dictatorship, and adopting
capitalism and democracy, doesn’t make any difference; like
George W. Bush’s and Barack Obama’s ‘Defense’ chief has
said: «Russian democracy has disappeared and the government
was an oligarchy run by the security services». But, even if
that had been true (and it wasn’t true of Russia, though it
has become true of the U.S.), what business is that of
America’s? Even if it had been true, this wouldn’t be any
reason for America to extend NATO even «one inch to the east».
For the nations of Europe to be in NATO,
and allied to the U.S., is for them to join America’s real
war against Russia — a very dangerous and destructive war,
which is driving millions of Syrians fleeing into Europe.
Such European politicians are thus traitors to their own
countries. The nations of Europe should instead be joining
in defense of Russia against America’s aggressions
(including now against «Strategic Communication Team East»),
aggressions which started by Americas’ targeting Russia’s
allies: originally, Libya; then, Syria; then, Ukraine. The
U.S.-Saud-Thani threat against the most secular,
non-sectarian, country in the Middle East, Syria — to
replace its secular government by a jihadist one — is also a
threat against all of Europe (and not only by its flooding
Europe with the refugees). The refugees from Syria and Libya
are merely the start of the harms to European peace.
Europeans who vote for NATO (alliance with the U.S.) are
voting for war against Russia — not for war against America,
the Sauds and the Thanis. Not for war against Europe’s
actual enemies. And, last of all, such voters, and the
politicians they’re voting for, are not voting for peace.
The «Strategic Communication Team East» is the latest phase
of this war-treason from these politicians, treason against
their own countries. The reviewer of the Wikileaks book had
it correct: «To say that the US … comes off poorly in this
book is like saying the Titanic suffered some water damage».
Russia is a part of Europe. By contrast:
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the U.S., are not, and they don’t
actually want to be. They’re not trying to be European.
(During America’s invasion of Iraq in 2003, non-participant
France was even publicly despised with slurring jokes
aagainst «French fries».) They’ve never requested membership
in the European Union, and they’re not even on the European
Continent. By contrast, Russia is historically a part of the
European family. Tchaikovsky and Tolstoy were Europeans, as
much as Beethoven and Dickens were. Mark Twain, great though
he was, was American, not European. Arabia and today’s
jihadist-supporting U.S. are not and don’t want to be
European. Instead, Arabia has been, and the U.S. has become,
dictatorial, even having the nerve to demand that Syria’s
popular elected President Assad, the only secular leader
that that country can have, must be expelled from power and
replaced by a U.S./Saudi/Qatari stooge, and the nerve to
proclaim that Syrians aren’t the people who possess the
right and the final say-so to determine whether or when
Assad should be removed from Syria’s Presidency. The EU’s
leaders who favor the U.S. instead of Russia are favoring
dictatorship over democracy in Syria — and in Europe, too.
The U.S. used to be a democracy, but no longer is. «Strategic Communication Team East» is
part of the U.S.-Arabic war against Russia — against a
nation of Europe. Rather than having welcomed
post-Soviet Russia into the democratic club, the United
States has steadily been extending its military alliance
against Russia: NATO.
As U.N. Secretary General Ban ki-Moon
has said: «The future of President Assad must be
decided by the Syrian people… I think it is totally unfair
and unreasonable … to paralyze all this political
negotiation. This is not acceptable. It’s not fair… Many
Western countries oppose the Syrian government’s position.
Meanwhile, we lost years. 250,000 people have been killed.
There are 13 million refugees or internally displaced. Over
50% of hospitals, schools and infrastructure has been
destroyed in Syria». The national leaders he is implicitly
charging there are actually being accused by him of
war-crimes against the Syrian people; and those war-crimes
are even hurting the very people whom those politicians are
sworn to be serving — their own populations.
Has democracy been dying in Western
countries? Is it already dead in some? Is the ignorance by
Western publics regarding these historically important
realities of our time, itself proof of that? Did the West
learn nothing from George W. Bush’s having lied his country into the
catastrophic invasion of Iraq? Now, it’s «regime-change in Syria», also
based upon lies.

The world is beginning to realize that a seachange in world
affairs occured on September 28 when President Putin of
Russia stated in his UN speech that Russia can no longer
tolerate Washington’s vicious, stupid, and failed policies
that have unleashed chaos, which is engulfing the Middle
East and now Europe. Two days later, Russia took over the
military situation in Syria and began the destruction of the
Islamic State forces.
Perhaps among Obama’s advisors there are a few who are not
drowning in hubris and can
understand this seachange. Sputnik news reports that some
high-level security advisors to Obama have advised him to
withdraw US military forces from Syria and give up his plan
to overthrow Assad. They advised Obama to cooperate with
Russia in order to stop the refugee flow that is
overwhelming Washington’s vassals in Europe. The influx of
unwanted peoples is making Europeans aware of the high cost
of enabling US foreign policy. Advisors have told Obama that
the idiocy of the neoconservatives’ policies threaten
Washington’s empire in Europe.
Several commentators, such as Mike Whitney and Stephen
Lendman, have concluded, correctly, that there is nothing
that Washington can do about Russian actions against the
Islamic State. The neoconservatives’ plan for a UN no-fly
zone over Syria in order to push out the Russians is a
pipedream. No such resolution will come out of the UN.
Indeed, the Russians have already established a de facto
no-fly zone.
Putin, without issuing any verbal threats or engaging in any
name-calling, has decisively shifted the power balance, and
the world knows it.
Washington’s response consists of name-calling, bluster and
more lies, some of which is echoed by some of Washington’s
ever more doubtful vassals. The only effect is to
demonstrate Washington’s impotence.
If Obama has any sense, he will dismiss from his
government the neoconservative morons who have squandered
Washington’s power, and he will focus instead on holding
on to Europe by working with Russia to destroy, rather
than to sponsor, the terrorism in the Middle East that is
overwhelming Europe with refugees.
If Obama cannot admit a mistake, the United States will
continue to lose credibility and prestige around the world.

Is NATO sleepwalking into a conflict with Russia? Well,
it certainly looks like it. Ever since the
western-backed forced regime change in Kiev last year,
the Pentagon and the State Department have been itching
for a confrontation with Russia. This still may happen,
but the results could be catastrophic. CrossTalking with

2017 is the year US money managers are dreading –
84-year-old George Soros included. The self-made
billionaire, who has made calls in the past for higher taxes
of wealthy Americans, may soon be getting his wish.
According to Bloomberg, after years of deferring income,
Soros may be looking at a $6.7 billion tax bill. He made
billion by using loopholes that allowed him to defer taxes
on fees paid by clients. Erin weighs in.
Then, Erin is joined by James Galbraith – professor of
government at the University of Texas at Austin and author
of "Inequality and Instability: A Study of the World Economy
Just Before the Great Crisis." James tells us what he
expects to happen next in Greece and gives us his take on
whether his former colleague and new Greek finance minister
Yanis Varoufakis is part of the problem. He also opines on
why Europe continues with failed policy.
After the break, Bianca gives us a daily news roundup
featuring other major business headlines of the day,
including Carly Fiorina’s presidential run, Chrysler’s
college program, Venezuela’s energy crisis, and the success
of live-streaming apps during the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
Afterwards, Erin sits down with Rick Rule – CEO of Sprott US
Holdings. Rick tells us how just the expectations of lifted
sanctions on Iran are affecting global oil markets and gives
us his take on how advanced technologies are reshaping the
US energy economy. He sees the potential for oil market
death for high marginal cost producers in the second half of
the year as very real.
And in The Big Deal, Erin and Edward discuss the wise words
of elderly investors Warren Buffet and George Soros.

Vladimir NESTEROV · 14.12.201 · 00:00
The daily routine has distracted the attention of ruling circles in Europe. They have failed to see in time the erosion of political order due to growing interference of EU supranational structures into the affairs of national states. The first warning was sounded during the May 2014 European Parliament election. Miscellaneous and sundry political parties united in their anti-EU drive received 30% of the votes. The Treaty of Lisbon was concluded in 2007 to replace the failed EU Constitutional Treaty. Since then it has become clear that the European integration is quite a reversible process.
The powerful Euro-skeptic
movement is divided into two main camps. They might be
called «New Right» and «New Left». The first one gains
ground as it squeezes out the traditional center and right
parties. It calls for the return to traditional cultural and
family values, taking protectionist measures in economy,
gaining independence from supranational entities (especially
the European Union), restoring Europe of national homelands
and putting a stop to immigration from Asia and Africa. The
«New Left» forces take strides on the way of making Social
Democrats and old-pattern Communist parties retreat
Europe-wide. The Party of the European Left, commonly
abbreviated PEL, is a European political structure which
operates as an association of around 30 Democratic
Socialist, Socialist and Communist (reformed) political
parties in the European Union and other European countries.
It was formed in January 2004 for the purposes of running in
the 2004 European Parliament elections. Unlike the majority
of PEL members, the «New Left» are convinced Euro-skeptics.
Sooner or later they will have to establish an organization
of their own. They stand for dissolution of NATO, the
development of international relationship based on justice
and equality and putting an end to the militarization of the
European Union. They oppose the military and political
cooperation between the United States and the EU and speak
out against the creation of Transatlantic Free Trade Area
(TAFTA).
* * *
The influence of the European «New Right» and «New Left» has
increased since the elections. In autumn they upset the
stability of Sweden’s political life. After the
parliamentary elections in September 2014 the Sweden
Democrats (a typical «New Right» political force) received
13% of votes (in comparison with around 10% at the European
Parliament election) to become the third largest party in
the country. They got their «golden share» in the Riksdag
(the Swedish parliament). On December 3, the Sweden
Democrats voted against the budget bill put forward by the
coalition of Social Democrats and Greens to topple the
government. Now the country faces its first snap election in
60 years scheduled on March 22, 2015. Sociologists believe
that this time the «New Right» will get at least 18% of
votes to become the main political arbitrator joining the
government. In this case Stockholm may revise its policy
towards Brussels. Unlike the traditional Right, the Sweden
Democrats support traditionally strong welfare state
policies. In particular, they speak out in favor of
supporting families with children, they want to improve the
plight of pensioners, increase the funds allocated for
medical needs and boost subsidies to cover travel expenses
of those who reside in distant parts of the country. The
Sweden Democrats oppose mass immigration. Some time ago the
party voted against the Ukraine–European Union Association
Agreement.
Sweden is not the only European country
to enter the election campaign. Spain, Great Britain and,
possibly, Greece will also face elections in 2015. These
states may be in for big surprises.
The deep economic crisis in Spain and corruption scandals
inside the ruling party led to the growth of popular support
for Podemos («We Can»), a left wing political party.
Podemos' economic manifesto includes the restructuring of
national budget and EU debt. In opinion polls support for
Podemos has surged as high as 28% ahead of both the
centre-right governing People’s Party and the opposition
Socialist Party. The new political force presents an
imminent challenge to the two-party system established after
Franco.
The popularity growth of UK
Independence Party threatens the two-party system in Great
Britain. It got 28% at the European Parliament election,
more than any other British political party. Its platform
calls for the UK leaving the European Union, the
introduction of tougher immigration laws and the support of
small and medium business.
There are many Euro-skeptics inside the Conservative Party
led by David Cameron. Experts say there is a possibility of
split. Euro-skeptics may leave the Tories to join the United
Kingdom Independence Party with EU supporters filling the
ranks of British Labor. In any case, the level of support
enjoyed by the UK Independence Party makes it impossible for
the country to be ruled as before with the Conservatives and
Labor Party succeeding each other at the helm. If the UKIP
takes part in forming the government, the relations between
Great Britain and the European Union will significantly cool
down.

In the next few years, Russia’s
decision to put a stop to the South Stream project will
become a deciding factor in how the energy situation
develops not just in Europe, but in the whole of the
Eurasian continent.
Essentially, we are dealing with an energy war unleashed by
the United States and the European Union’s pro-American
leaders. It is in this vein that the reports which appeared
in the pages of Western newspapers at the beginning of
December stuffed with spy clichés reminiscent of the cold
war should be considered.
The tone was set by the London-based newspaper The Financial
Times, which has revealed «the hand of Moscow» at the heart
of the European Union. According to the newspaper, the mass
demonstrations that swept across Central and Eastern
European (CEE) countries in 2012-2013 against the
development of shale gas deposits in Europe were paid for by
Russia, or, to be more precise, by Gazprom. Similar
allegations were also made by The New York Times. The
reports’ authors even mention the specific amounts that were
allegedly paid by Russia, while at the same time
acknowledging that the intelligence agencies of CEE
countries have been unable to get any evidence to back up
their claims.
Western newspapers focussed particular attention on
demonstrations that had forced the American company Chevron
to wind down its activities in Bulgaria, Romania and
Lithuania. In point of fact, these demonstrations were on a
massive scale and forced the Bulgarian and Romanian
governments to terminate an agreement with the American oil
company on the development of shale gas deposits. In
Lithuania, the situation developed somewhat differently.
There, Chevron experts refused to comply with Lithuania’s
tax demands, as well as finance the development of areas in
which it was planning to carry out environmentally hazardous
activities.
Prior to that, the American company ExxonMobil also wound
down all of its shale gas projects due to their
inefficiency. The financial insolvency of these projects
plus the environmental threat they created are what actually
led to the poor outcome for Americans in these countries.
The West, however, has decided to put forward a different
version of events for the loss by American companies of a
significant section of the market by declaring that the
protests against shale gas projects in Bulgaria were the
work of Russian agents. The same pro-Russian elements
organised the resignation of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko
Borisov’s government in 2013, to which end they financed the
extreme right-wing ATAKA party. Although the specific reason
for the anti-government protests was the then increase in
utility bills, it is to be supposed that this was also paid
for by Russia. According to Western newspapers, the total
amount of payments received by Bulgaria was upwards of $20
million.
Romania also cannot do without «the hand of Moscow». The New
York Times reports that Gazprom was involved in «a
mysteriously well-financed and well-organized campaign of
protest» against shale gas projects in the country. Once
again, however, the Romanian intelligence agencies admit
that they do not have a single document proving Russia’s
involvement in the anti-fracking protests. The Romanian
Parliament’s industry committee does not have any evidence
either, but claims that Gazprom allegedly spent $100 million
to fund a campaign against the shale revolution in Europe.
Nobody is able to clarify exactly where these figures have
come from.
It is unsurprising that those who apparently received
Russia’s millions are categorically denying the accusations.
Leaders of Bulgaria’s ATAKA party stress that it is fully
financed through state subsidies within the framework of
national legislation. And as far as the leaders of the
anti-fracking protests themselves are concerned, they view
what is happening as an attempt to further the interests of
American energy companies at any price.
Tellingly, the protests in Bulgaria, Romania and Lithuania
broke out in 2012-2013, but «the hand of Moscow» is only
being mentioned now, in the midst of increasingly strained
discussions regarding Europe’s energy security issues and
America’s shale gas projects, which, amid falling oil
prices, are becoming less and less economically viable.
The position of opponents to the so-called shale revolution
is also gaining ground in the US itself. According to
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, «one of the most remarkable
results» of the US election campaign at the beginning of
November was the outcome of the referendum held in the Texas
city of Denton on the extraction of shale gas through
fracking, hydraulic fracturing using chemicals, that
American companies are also imposing on Europe. The majority
of voters, 59 per cent, voted to ban the method as it causes
considerable harm to the environment. Denton is located just
a 45 minute drive away from the offices of America’s largest
oil company, ExxonMobil. It is also the location of
America’s largest shale gas deposit, Barnett Shale, where
the shale revolution began in 1981. The area has 280 active
wells [3].
So a very strong anti-fracking precedent has been
established. Following the logic of The Financial Times and
The New York Times, those against the extraction of shale
gas in Texas were also no doubt financed by Russia.
Meanwhile, the intergovernmental agreement signed in Moscow
on the supply of Russian oil to Slovakia up until 2029
opened a new chapter in Russia’s cooperation with CEE
governments. Despite the seemingly unfavourable conditions
in the world oil market, Moscow and Bratislava have taken an
important step towards jointly ensuring Europe’s energy
security.
The document was signed by Russian Energy Minister Alexander
Novak and Slovak Economic Minister Pavol Pavlis. «We have no
reason not to trust our Russian partner, which has always
fulfilled its obligations» and is «a reliable and long-term
supplier with whom we work well,» commented Slovakia’s
Ministry of Economy upon signing the agreement with Russia.
The ministry is convinced that Russian oil supplies are
«extremely important» for Slovakia, including from an
engineering and manufacturing point of view: «The equipment
at our refineries is tailored to the chemical and
manufacturing makeup of Russian oil. So if we suddenly
decided to export oil somewhere else, we would need to
change the operating procedures at our refineries.»
Cooperation between Russia and Slovakia in the energy sector
actually has a strong foundation, and they previously
entered into a similar agreement in 1991. This was also of a
long-term term nature and over the entire length of the
agreement, neither Russia nor Slovakia were given any reason
not to trust each other. The provisions of the new agreement
extend the parameters of a bilateral cooperation. They
stipulate a pronounced increase in the volumes of Russian
oil supplies, both in the volumes of oil intended for
Slovakia itself and the volumes of oil passing through
Slovakia to other EU member countries. For both supply
categories, the annual volume has been set at 6 million
tons. As of year-end 2013, 5.8 million tons of Russian oil
had been supplied to Slovakia through the Druzhba pipeline.
Both parties agreed that if the technological infrastructure
is available and contracts are entered into between
businesses, then transit volumes could exceed 6 million tons
of oil a year.
The signing of such long-term agreements in the energy
sphere inevitably raises two questions, the first on the
resource base and the second on the possible fluctuations in
oil prices. When it comes to long-term supply sources in
Slovakia and other EU countries, then they are safeguarded
by oil reserves in Russia. And as far as fluctuations in oil
prices are concerned, then experience has shown that they
are cyclical in nature. If you recalculate the prices
according to the current dollar exchange rate, for example,
then it turns out that they were $100-110 per barrel not
only fairly recently, but also at the beginning of the 1980s
and even in the 1860s. Thus the market has successfully
regained the falls in prices throughout the whole of the
last century and a half.
The soundness of long-term contracts for the supply of
Russian oil to Europe is also backed up by independent
analysts. Experts from the British company BP have
calculated that oil production in Russia will have grown to
548 million tons a year by 2035 (it is currently in the
region of 520 million tons). Gas production in Russia will
also increase – to 807 billion cubic metres a year
(currently around 672 billion cubic metres).
European players in the gas market are looking for ways to
expand their energy cooperation with Russia, despite
attempts by the European Commission to sabotage their
aspirations. The Slovak gas transmission system operator
Eustream is planning to build a pipeline from Slovakia to
the Bulgarian-Turkish border, so is hurrying to join a new
plan for the transportation of Russian gas to Europe through
Turkey. It is the first specific consequence of revised
plans to build the South Stream pipeline...
(To be concluded...)

Brussels threatened EU members who were keen to be part of

Moscow called Brussels’ bluff and Europe will probably pay a

Russia has axed the South Stream gas pipeline project. The
South Stream pipeline was meant to bring gas straight into
Europe...to avoid any “middleman” countries which might
hinder deliveries. The route was supposed to go from Russia
through the black sea to Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary and
Slovenia and then further to Austria. But relations between
the EU and Russia soured this year and it suddenly turns out
that the project doesn't comply with European laws. Russia
got sick of the EU's attempts to stall the project and
scrapped it. What’s next?

Is the Western elite’s brainchild – the
European Union – disintegrating? Due to persistent economic
problems, the rise of “popular resentment” across the
continent, the political fallout after the illegal coup in
Ukraine and the subsequent unpopular economic war on Russia,
the EU is on the verge of crumbling.
In an interview with France 24, the hedge fund manager,
billionaire and founder of the Open Society Foundation, George Soros, reveals that the European Union has failed
to achieve the desires of the elite and many within Europe
now see “Russia as a role model”:
“We have to recognise that the [European] Union itself, which is a noble, well-intended experiment in international governance, has failed, and has not delivered what it promised, and there is such a degree of disappointment that even Russia can offer an alternative.” (3.21 into the interview)
Soros then asserts that
many in Europe – including the UK Independence Party (UKIP)
leader Nigel Farage, Front National President Marine Le Pen
in France, as well as “a lot of people in Germany” – find
the idea of “closer cooperation with Russia rather
attractive”.
Europe has been in crisis for years now and the outcome of this latest flare up with Russia could determine the future of the EU itself. In an article featured in The New York Review this month titled: Wake Up, Europe, Soros notes that since the financial crisis of 2008 and the subsequent austerity policies imposed by the nefarious troika, “popular resentment” and support for anti-European parties has risen:
The elite have become increasingly fearful of popular uprisings across the West which they seek to “co-opt and channel”, as Paul Joseph Watson reported for Infowars in September. As anger continues to mount in the West at the ineptitude and immorality of government, the elite will attempt to “co-opt” organic movements and even create artificial political movements to guide and neutralize “popular passions”.“The European Union in general and the eurozone in particular lost their way after the financial crisis of 2008.The fiscal rules that currently prevail in Europe have aroused a lot of popular resentment. Anti-Europe parties captured nearly 30 percent of the seats in the latest elections for the European Parliament but they had no realistic alternative to the EU to point to until recently. Now Russia is presenting an alternative that poses a fundamental challenge to the values and principles on which the European Union was originally founded….It is also high time for the European Union to take a critical look at itself… The bureaucracy of the EU no longer has a monopoly of power and it has little to be proud of.”
The EU is the brainchild of an
international elite who have been in the process of building
an empire for over a century, with the EU serving as “a bold
experiment in international governance
and the rule of law, aimed at
replacing nationalism and the use of force”. The EU is
an experiment in replacing national countries with a union
which is to be amalgamated with emerging
sovereignty-usurping unions across the planet, including the
North American Union and a possible Middle Eastern Union, into a global empire. The executive body
of the EU – the European Commission – is a corporate partner of the Royal Institute of International
Affairs (RIIA), the parallel British government which
strives for global conquest.
Étienne Davignon, a former European
Commissioner and an influential architect of European
integration, revealed that the annual Anglo-American
conference – the Bilderberg group – “helped create the Euro in the 1990’s.” Soros himself is hugely entrenched within
the shadow world empire, as he heads up the European Council
on Foreign Relations in addition to being heavily involved
with the Council on Foreign Relations in the U.S.
Europe has been the home of protests
by irate farmers who have been hit hardest by the
nonsensical political decision to impose sanctions on Russia
following the illegal Western coup in Kiev. In response to
Western sanctions, Russia imposed a ban on food imports in
August from countries backing the sanctions
resulting in lower food prices in Europe as produce floods the market
yet demand has dropped from a major
importer in the East. This ban would never have been applied
if the West did not overthrow the government in Kiev, and
then further antagonise Moscow by implementing sanctions on
the country. The loss of trade due to lower food exports is
set to cost the EU an estimated $6.6 billion a year, yet the social blowback from the
agricultural sector in an already sensitive and potentially
volatile continent could be unquantifiable.
France has been gripped by numerous
protests over the past few months as living standards
continue to fall and the prohibition of exporting certain
foods to Russia takes effect. Farmers in Brittany torched tax offices in addition to dumping cauliflower,
artichokes and manure outside government offices during a
protest in mid September, due to frustration with government
policies. An estimated 36,000 people participated in a
nation-wide protest in France earlier this month where they
again dumped manure and rotten vegetables
outside local government buildings,
partly due to being unable to export food to Russia.
Spain has also seen protests by the
farming sector over Russian sanctions, as agricultural
unions dumped surplus potatoes outside the French multinational retailer
Carrefour in Granada. The unions were protesting against the
price Carrefour pays for their crops as well as the European
Commission’s Emergency Fund not covering the loss potato
farmers are experiencing due to reduced food exports. The
fund purchases surplus stock from certain products produced
to compensate farmers unable to export food to Russia, but
it does not cover superfluous potato stocks.
Dissent and opposition to the policies
of the EU is much broader than just the blowback from
imposing sanctions on Russia however, as “it could be argued that the majority of
citizens are opposed to the current conditions” on the continent. Austerity has decimated
Southern Europe and anti-austerity rallies have become a
fixture of life for many Europeans. In October, Naples
witnessed thousands of people taking to the streets outside
a European Central Bank (ECB) meeting held in Italy, where
protestors demanded an end to austerity and high
unemployment.
Unemployment and contempt towards the
political class has soared across the European continent
since the financial crisis of 2008, and this could trigger a
revolution in Europe in the coming years. There is no question
that the elite will do everything in their power to prop up
the EU and attempt to “co-opt” any movement challenging the
established order, but this may prove ineffective at
containing the imminent uprising…

The aggressive and mindless stance that Washington’s warmongers have taken toward Russia and China have shattered the accomplishment of Reagan and Gorbachev.
Reagan and Gorbachev ended the cold war and removed the threat of nuclear armageddon. Now the neocons, the US budget-dependent (taxpayer dependent) US military/security complex, and the US politicians dependent on campaign funds from the military/security complex have resurrected the nuclear threat.
The corrupt and duplicitous Clinton regime broke the agreement that the George H.W. Bush administration gave Moscow in 1990. In exchange for Moscow permitting a reunified Germany to be a NATO member, Washington agreed that there would be no expansion of NATO to the east. Gorbachev, US Secretary of State James Baker, US ambassador to Moscow Jack Matlock, and declassified documents all testify to the fact that Moscow was assured that there would be no expansion of NATO into Eastern Europe.
In 1999 President Bill Clinton made a liar of the administration of President George H.W. Bush. The corrupt Clinton brought Poland, Hungary, and the newly formed Czech Republic into NATO.
President George W. Bush also made a liar out of his father, George H.W. Bush, and his father’s trusted Secretary of State, James Baker. “Dubya,” as the fool and drunkard is known, brought Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Romania into NATO in 2004. The corrupt and hopeless Obama regime added Albania and Croatia in 2009.
In other words, over the past 21 years three two-term US presidents have taught Moscow that the word of the US government is worthless.
Today Russia is surrounded by US and NATO military bases, with more to come in Ukraine (part of Russia for centuries), Georgia (part of Russia for centuries and the birthplace of Joseph Stalin), Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and perhaps also Azerbaijan.
A large land expanse that was formerly part of the Soviet Empire is now part of Washington’s Empire. The “coming of democracy” simply meant the changing of masters.
Washington always picks the puppet who serves as Secretary General of NATO. The latest is a former Norwegian politician and prime minister, Jens Stoltenberg. On Washington’s orders, the puppet quickly antagonized Moscow with the statement that NATO has a powerful army that has a global policing role and can be deployed wherever Washington wishes. This claim is a total contradiction of NATO’s purpose and charter.
Igor Korochenko, a member of the Russian Defense Ministry Public Council replied to Washington’s puppet Stoltenberg: “Such statements run counter to the system of international security, as the NATO alliance poses a threat to Russia. Therefore, it will cause responsive measures.”
The responsive measures are what you would expect: enough nuclear capability to wipe out the United States and Europe many times over.
The arrogant fools in Washington, wallowing in their hubris as “the indispensable nation,” have provoked Moscow to the point that Russia now has more deployed nuclear weapons than the US. As a result of Washington breaking its word and putting ABM missile bases on Russia’s border, Russia has developed supersonic ICBMs that can rapidly change their trajectory and cannot be shot down by any missile defense system. Of course, the US corporations making billions of dollars selling Washington a useless ABM system will deny this.
Moreover, those countries, such as Poland, whose governments are sufficiently stupid to accept US ABM bases, would be obliterated before the bases could function. The utter stupidity of Eastern Europe’s bought-and-paid-for governments to put trust in Washington is likely to be the main cause of WW III.
The happy participant in the new Armageddon is the American military/security complex. These greedy bastards–”private corporations” whose revenues are entirely public funds– are guaranteed more money regardless of the potential cost in human life. Their US Senate spokesperson, Jim Inhofe, a member of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, has resurrected the argument from 60 years ago that America is falling behind in the arms race. Restarting the arms race is essential to the profits of the US military/security complex and to the campaign contributions of senators.
It is not only Russia’s strategic nuclear forces that the fools in Washington have revived and activated, but China’s as well. Last year China released a pictorial description of how China’s nuclear forces could destroy the US. This was China’s response to Washington’s insane plan of building new air and naval bases from the Philippines to Vietnam in order to control the flow of resources in the South China Sea. What kind of idiotic government does America have that thinks China is going to put up with this kind of interference in China’s sphere of influence?
China has now added to its nuclear arsenal a new variant of one of its mobile ICBMs. Washington does not know much about this new missile, because the CIA is too busy arranging protests in Hong Kong.
Both Russia and China were content to be part of the world economy and to improve the economic situation of their citizens by developing their economies. But along comes the neocon Unipower, a collection of arrogant psychopaths who declare that Washington will not permit any other country, not even Russia and China, to rise to a capability of exercising a foreign policy independent of Washington’s purposes.
Nuclear war is back into the picture. First Washington threatens those it perceives as rivals. When the perceived rivals don’t submit, Washington demonizes them.
In the histories written by Washington’s court historians, the greatest demons of modern times are the WW II governments of Japan and Germany along with the post-WW II Soviet government of Joseph Stalin. These American court historians ignore the facts.
Japan was forced into war by Washington, which cut off Japan’s access to resources. Japan was then nuked twice while the Japanese government was trying to surrender.
All of US president Woodrow Wilson’s promises made to Germany in order to end WW I, such as no territorial loses and no reparations, were broken. Germany was torn apart and German territory was handed over to Poland, France, and Czechoslovakia. Despite US president Woodrow Wilson’s promise to the contrary, impossible reparations were imposed on Germany by the Treaty of Versailles. The prescient John Maynard Keynes declared that the reparations would result in a second world war. If memory serves, portions of Germany were also given to Belgium, Lithuania, and Denmark.
This humiliation of an industrious and powerful people, whose armies occupied foreign territories when WW I ended, demonstrated the mendacity of the so-called “Western powers.” The French, British, and Americans paved the way for Adolph Hitler. By 1935 Hitler was sufficiently ensconced to denounce the Versailles Treaty. If Hitler had not succumbed to hubris and sent the German armies marching off into Russia where they were destroyed, he, or his successors, would still be ruling Europe today.
The true history is so different from what Washington pretends and Americans are taught. The majority of Americans are blind enablers of Washington’s war on the world. If ebola and global warming don’t destroy humanity, the ignorance of the American people and Washington’s war for world hegemony surely will.

If you think you know whats going on - think again - view this to find out.... it may change the game being played.
I often find these types of truther videos interesting, because they provide difference of opinion to the “main stream” media, which often can lead to other areas of enquiry. Not a bad thing when its used with integrity.
... the thing is, the govern-mentals also know this too... they also know just how to produce exactly the SAME types of videos, under the same types of circumstances, creating the same types of fan base.
It doesnt take too much discernment to figure out – that perhaps – this video may also fabricated. As most people will be willing to assume this video is real, yet it is without a determinable basis of fact.
Its our jobs then, as the viewer ... to discern when it is real or not. It has to go through our own filters, if we have any.
Creating a video such as this, which appears to be “truth” when it could well be “fictional” isnt that hard to do. Given the vast amounts of resources “they” have available.
If the intent was to destabilise a group of people, get them casing their tails, so that clarity is unachievable... do you agree with me it would be easy to create a video claiming “truth”? ... and then feed that into the truther movement, and have them propagate the spin for you. Im pointing out to become aware of such things, and the potential harm it causes. As this is currently whats going on imo.
This rigged “story” is something the Scottish people will NEVER be able to heal.... and who does that serve? :::THAT::: is whats important to look at in all this.
For me, a simple re-count would be one way to go... this then would be a definite END point.
Lets see if they grace us with a recount so that we can all have clarity. But i suspect they wont. Its more useful to them this way.
If it turns out to be real and factual, then ill be very fucked off, as there would have been an injustice here

MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) – The
Ukrainian crisis is all the fault of the European Union, the
leader of France’s National Front party Marine Le Pen told
Le Monde newspaper.
Le Pen told the paper, that EU leaders’ negotiation of a
trade deal with Ukraine forced the country to choose between
Europe and Russia.
National Front’s leader also said she has admiration for
Russian President Vladimir Putin, as he suggests a
patriotic economic model, unlike what the United
States imposes on Europe.
The Ukraine–EU Association Agreement is the treaty between
the two countries, that presupposes political and economic
association between the parties.
Russia has repeatedly expressed deep concern over Ukraine’s
signing of the agreement with the EU, saying it would be
forced to protect its market once it faces an uncontrolled
flow of duty-free goods from the EU.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said in August he would
submit the draft Association Agreement to parliament to be
ratified in mid-September, ahead of the parliamentary
elections in the country scheduled for October 26.

Herbert E. Meyer, a nutcase who was a special assistant to the CIA director for a period during the Reagan administration, has penned an article calling for Russian President Putin’s assassination. If we have “ to get him out of the Kremlin feet-first with a bullet hole in the back of his head, that would be okay with us.” http://www.americanthinker.com/2014/08/how_to_solve_the_putin_problem.html
As the crazed Meyer illiustrates, the insanity that Washington has released upon the world knows no restraint. Jose Manual Barroso, installed as Washington’s puppet as European Commission President, misrepresented his recent confidential telephone conversation with Russia’s President Putin by telling the media that Putin issued a threat: “If I want to, I can take Kiev in two weeks.”
Clearly, Putin did not issue a threat. A threat would be inconsistent with Putin’s entire unprovocative approach to the strategic threat that Washington and its NATO puppets have brought to Russia in Ukraine. Russia’s permanent representative to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, said that if Barroso’s lie stands, Russia will make public the full recording of the conversation
Anyone familiar with the disparity between the Ukrainian and Russian militaries knows full well that it would take the Russian military 14 hours, not 14 days, to take all of Ukraine. Just remember what happened to the American and Israeli trained and equipped Georgian Army when Washington set its stupid Georgian puppets on South Ossetia. The American and Israeli trained and equipped Georgian army collapsed under Russian counterattack in 5 hours.
The lie that Washington’s puppet Barroso told was not worthy of a serious person. But where in Europe is there a serious person in power? Nowhere. The few serious people are all out of power. Consider the NATO Secretary General, Anders Rasmussen. He was a prime minister of Denmark who saw he could rise beyond Denmark by serving as Washington’s puppet. As prime minister he strongly supported Washington’s illegal invasion of Iraq, declaring that “we know that Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction.” Of course, the fool didn’t know any such thing, and why would it matter if Iraq did have such weapons. Many countries have weapons of mass destruction.
According to the rule that anyone who serves Washington is elevated, the cipher Rasmussen was elevated.
The problem with elevating unprincipled fools is that they risk the world for their career. Rasmussen has now put the entirety of Eastern and Western Europe at risk of annihilation. Rasmussen has announced the creation of a blitzkrieg spearhead force capable of blitzkrieg attack on Russia. What Washington’s puppet calls “the Readiness Action Plan” is justified as a response to “Russia’s aggressive behavior in Ukraine.”
Rasmussen’s “lightening spearhead force” would be instantly wiped out along with every European capital. What kind of idiot provokes a nuclear superpower in this way?
Rasmussen asserts “Russia’s aggressive behavior” but has no evidence of it. Russia has stood on the sidelines while Washington’s puppet government in Kiev has shelled and bombed civilian housing, hospitals, schools and issued a constant stream of lies against Russia. Russia denied the requests of the now independent eastern and southern provinces of Ukraine, former Russian territories, to be reunited with Russia. As readers know, I regard Putin’s decision as a mistake, but events might prove me wrong and that is OK with me. For now, the fact is that every act of aggressive behavior is the result of the US and EU support of the Kiev nazis. It is the Ukrainian nazi militias that are attacking civilians in the former Russian territories of eastern and southern Ukraine. A number of regular Ukrainian military units have defected to the independent republics.
Yes, nazis. Western Ukraine is the home of the Ukrainian SS divisions that fought for Hitler. Today the militias organized by the Right Sector and other right-wing political organizations wear the nazi insignia of the Ukrainian SS divisions. These are the people that Washington and the EU support. If the Ukrainian nazis could win against Russia, which they cannot, they would turn on the stupid West, just as has the Washington-funded ISIS that the dumbshits in Washington unleashed on Libya and Syria. Now ISIS is remaking the Middle East, and Washington appears helpless.
William Binney, a former high level official in the US National Security Agency, along with colleagues from the CIA and military intelligence services, have written to German chancellor Merkel advising her to beware of Obama’s lies at the upcoming NATO summit in Wales. The US intelligence officials advise Merkel to remember Iraq’s “weapons of mass destruction” and don’t again be deceived, this time into conflict with Russia. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-09-01/ex-nsa-director-us-intelligence-veterans-write-open-letter-merkel-avoid-all-out-ukra
The question is: who does Merkel represent? Washington or Germany? So far Merkel has represented Washington, not German business interests, not the German people, and not Germany’s interests as a country. Here is a protest in Dresden where a crowd prevents Merkel’s speech with shouts of “kriegstreiber” (warmonger), “liar, liar,” and “no war with Russia.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wSMhGE_Mpk
My Ph.D. dissertation chairman, who became a high Pentagon official assigned to wind down the Vietnam war, in answer to my question about how Washington gets Europeans to always do what Washington wants replied: “Money, we give them money.” “Foreign aid?” I asked. “No, we give the European political leaders bagfuls of money. They are for sale, We bought them. They report to us.” Perhaps this explains Tony Blair’s $50 million fortune one year out of office.
The Western media, the largest whorehouse on earth, is desperate for war. The editorial board of the Washington Post, now a trophy newspaper in the hands of Amazon.com’s billionaire owner, ran an editorial on August 31 that projected all of Washington’s (and the Post’s) lies upon Putin.
Amazon.com’s owner might know how to market products on the Internet, but he is hopeless when it comes to running a newspaper. His editors at the Washington Post have made his trophy a worldwide laughing stock.
Here are the mindless accusations against Putin from the idiots that the billionaire put in charge of his trophy newspaper:
Putin, bitterly resentful at the loss of power from the Soviet collapse, has “resurrected the tyranny of the Big Lie” in order to reconstitute the Russian Empire.
“Russian sponsored militias in Ukraine” are responsible for the “shoot-down of the Malaysian airliner in July.” The “Russian state-controlled media” lied and misrepresented to the Russian people the party responsible for downing the airliner.
“In the absence of independent and free reporting, few Russians realize that Russian soldiers and armaments are in action in eastern Ukraine, albeit (as in Crimea) in uniforms and vehicles stripped of their identifying insignia and license plates. With no free media, Russians are left to fend for themselves against a firestorm of falsehoods.”
“Mr. Putin’s Big Lie shows why it is important to support a free press where it still exists and outlets like Radio Free Europe that bring the truth to people who need it.”
As a former Wall Street Journal editor, I can say with complete confidence that such extraordinary propaganda posing as an editorial would have resulted in the immediate firing of all concerned. In my days on the Congressional staff, the Washington Post was regarded as a CIA asset. Today the Post has sunk far below this status.
I have seen much media propaganda in my day, but this Washington Post editorial takes the cake. The editorial shows that either the editorial writers are completely ignorant or they are completely corrupt and also assume that their readers are completely ignorant. If Russian military units were in action in eastern Ukraine, the situation would be precisely as Alexander Zakharchenko http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2014/08/30/west-greatest-cause-war-human-history-stands-stripped-legitimacy-paul-craig-roberts/ and Dmitry Orlov describe. http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2014/09/01/can-tell-whether-russia-invaded-ukraine/ Ukraine would no longer exist. Ukraine would again be part of Russia where it was for centuries prior to Washington taking advantage of the Soviet collapse to tear Ukraine away from Russia.
The question before us is: how long will Russia’s patience last with the West’s enormous lies and provocations? No matter how restrained Russia is, Russia is accused of the worst. Therefore, Russia might as well inflict the worst.
At what point will the Russian government decide that Washington’s mendacity, and that of its European puppets and corrupt Western media, render hopeless Russia’s efforts to resolve the situation with diplomacy and unprovocative behavior? As Russia is constantly accused falsely of invading Ukraine, when will the Russian government decide that as Western propaganda has established that Russia has invaded Ukraine and has imposed sanctions and new military bases on Russia’s borders because of the alleged invasion, Russia might as well go ahead and rid themselves of the problem Washington has brought to Russia and invade Ukraine?
There is nothing that NATO could do about it if Russia decides that Ukraine in Washington’s hands is too much of a strategic threat to Russia and reincorporates Ukraine again into Russia where it has resided for centuries. Any NATO force sent would be instantly wiped out. The German population, remembering the consequences of war with Russia, would overthrow Washington’s puppet government. NATO and the EU would collapse as Germany departed the absurd construct that serves Washington’s interest at the expense of Europe.
Once this happens, the world will have peace. But not until.
For those who care to understand how the land of lies works, Washington’s puppet government in Kiev attributes the defeat of its military forces by the Donetsk Republic to the presence in the Donetsk army of Russian military units. This is the propaganda that has gone out to western Ukraine and to the presstitute western media, a collection of whores that echo the propaganda without any investigation whatsoever. However, Kiev has a different story for the IMF. Kiev cannot receive IMF money with which to pay off its Western creditors if Ukraine is at war. Therefore, Ukraine tells the IMF the opposite story: Russia has not attacked Ukraine. http://vineyardsaker.blogspot.com/2014/08/ukie-doubleplusgooddoublethink.html
The Western media remains uninterested in any facts. Just the lies. Only the lies.
The Washington Post, the New York Times, CNN, Fox “news,” Die Welt, the French press, the British press all plead: “please Washington give us more sensational lies that we can trumpet. Our circulation needs it. Who cares about war and the human race if only we can regain financial stability.”

There's a menace lurking in Europe's households which Brussels' Green Army is determined to get rid of - the high-powered vacuum cleaner.
From today, Europeans won't be able to buy vacuums that burn up more than 16-hundred watts to clean their floors.
It's supposed to help reduce energy usage, but critics claim that's nonsense, because people will have to use less-powerful models for longer get the job done.

Guest Column from Germany — America Frightens Us — by Roman Baudzus
Dear Friends: I am pleased to be able to share with you this revealing article written for our website by the editor of an important website in Germany.
Washington’s lies echoed by the presstitute media that serves Washington are destroying Washington’s credibility and that of the Western media among Europeans, especially Germans who understand that the threat to peace comes from across the Atlantic, not from east of the Oder River.
The success or failure of Vladimir Putin’s bet that reasonable diplomacy and unprovocative behavior on Russia’s part will contrast favorably with the shrill provocations by Washington depends upon whether European politicians respond to their own citizens or continue in their role as Washington’s whores. PCR
In the aftermath of the downing of the Malaysian airliner in Ukraine, the Western media followed Washington’s lead and manipulated reports in order to make Europeans believe that Russia and Russian-supported separatists in eastern Ukraine were responsible for downing the airliner. In Germany, the press was an extension of Washington’s propaganda machine despite the lack of evidence from both Washington and Kiev to support their irresponsible claims.
It was not long, however, before the
public mood in Europe began to turn. A pivotal factor was
openly voiced U.S. threats in a law that had been passed by
both the House of Representatives and the Senate of the U.S.
Congress that could eventually result in an invasion of the
Netherlands by United States army forces. http://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/internationales-strafgericht-us-kongress-droht-niederlanden-mit-invasion-a-200430.html
When this was learned outrage was expressed not only within the Dutch government, but also among the population of the country. According to the law, if it should ever happen that American citizens are brought before the International Criminal Court (ICC) and accused at The Hague, Washington would exercise the preemptive right to invade the country in order to prevent prosecution.
Remember that Malaysia’s government had permitted a tribunal in 2011, whose judges in the tradition of British court proceedings condemned both George W. Bush and Tony Blair as war criminals. http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2011/11/20111128105712109215.html Some Europeans are asking if there could be a connection between the ruling of this tribunal and the loss of two Malaysian airliners.
In addition, alert and intelligent
Europeans have caught on to Washington’s campaign to
demonize Russia. A Dutch group of professors sent an open
letter to Russian president Vladimir Putin on August 12 in
which the signatories officially apologized for the
propaganda lies sprewed by Western media. http://futuristrendcast.wordpress.com/2014/08/05/an-open-letter-from-the-netherlands-to-putin-we-are-sorry/
The former “quality media” in Europe have lost the confidence of readers. A growing number of Europeans relying on Internet sites such as www.paulcraigroberts.org are quite well informed about the propagandistic nature of the Western mainstream media.
The chart recently published by a leading German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) indicates that for one reason or the other, Germans have turned away from German newspapers. The cumulative sales of German newspapers reached their climax back in the year 1983 – with a circulation of 30.1 million copies.

Ever since, things have been deteriorating. In 2013, the circulation shrank to only 17.3 million sold copies – a significant decline of 42.5%, which really hurts many publishers. Persistent cost-reduction programs, massive job cuts and the demise of daily newspapers such as the Financial Times Deutschland are the consequence of newspapers in vassalage to Washington. Many excuses are made for the decline, but the real reason is that German newspapers no longer take their readers seriously
Germans wonder why their reunited country is still occupied by US troops 69 years after the end of World War II, why their country has no foreign policy independent of Washington, and why the German media provides no public discussion of these highly unusual characteristics of an allegedly sovereign state.
During the last several years the media’s propagandistic character has led to massive resistance among newspaper readers, especially in Germany. You only have to take a look at the comments published on Internet sites of the mainstream media to see angry and disappointed readers turn away from their once favorite newspapers that are accused of actively participating in Washington´s propaganda campaign. Readers see propaganda instead of investigative journalism. In place of evidence and honest reports, there are insinuations and ridiculous accusations. The German newspaper Die Welt even blamed the outbreak of the ebola virus on Russia! http://www.welt.de/politik/ausland/article131459175/Russland-hat-Ebola-zur-Waffe-gemacht.html
Given the danger of Washington pushing Europe into war with Russia, one can be glad that so many Europeans see through the perfidious propaganda lies spread by the mainstream media. Internet sites now perform the role abandoned by newspapers. These mainly independent internet media refer to themselves as alternative media, which have the goal to provide objective and truthful information in place of propaganda.
Some of the large German newspapers destroyed what little credibility they had left when they used social media to spread their claim that the negative comments on their websites were written by people on the payroll of Vladimir Putin. One doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry over this grotesque assertion.
The unanswered question is why does German mainstream media serve Washington instead of Germany? Does Washington pay well for propaganda services?
If we now come to the recent events in Ferguson, these incidents made us realize that the U.S. police state is not just on the rise, but is already in place! Scenes on TV and Internet videos of brutal militarized police equipped for battlefield combat applying extreme violence to protesters and journalists alike has raised the question in Europe whether America is a democracy or a police state. The continuing American massacre of people in the Middle East, together with Washington’s support for Israel’s massacre of Palestinians and now the massacre of Russians in eastern and southern Ukraine by the government that Washington installed in Kiev have changed the image of America from white hat to black hat. America no longer reassures us; America frightens us.
In a recent story Die Welt journalist Ansgar Graw wrote: “The day when the U.S. police became my enemy.”
Even Washington’s German media vassals reporting for Die Welt have now experienced firsthand the full brunt of American police violence. See http://www.welt.de/politik/ausland/article131363772/Der-Tag-an-dem-die-US-Polizei-mein-Feind-wurde.html and http://www.handelsblatt.com/politik/international/krawalle-in-ferguson-panzer-gegen-protestler/10356412.html
German journalists who have been living in the United States for 15 years are telling their readers that they have come to the decision to leave the US. They report that things have changed for the worse in the “land of the free” since 9/11, and that they were threatened, handcuffed and arrested for covering the protests in Ferguson.
The policeman who killed the 18-year old black man set off protests, the response to which opened the world’s eyes to the transformation of America into a police state. A country whose military bases occupy much of the world in the name of human rights and freedom, a country that violently interferes in internal affairs of sovereign nations and fights wars at its leisure is now perceived as waging war against its own oppressed propulation. By arrogantly exempting itself from the standards it applies to everyone else, the US has destroyed its credibility.
Now the Dutch wait for the appearance of US troops to show up at the Hague should international law ever be applied to Washington’s war criminals. As one German magazine put it recently, “with friends like America, we don’t need enemies.”

The issue of the trade and economic war between the West and Russia instigated by Washington has intensified in recent days. The United States is unable to conduct a trade and economic war against Russia by itself, since trade volumes between Russia and America are relatively modest. In 2013, US imports from Russia amounted to $11.2 billion, while exports from the US to Russia amounted to $16.5 billion. Accordingly, America’s share of Russian exports last year was 2.5 per cent, and its share of imports was 6.0 per cent. In 2013, the US ranked just 20th on the list of Russia’s trade partners.
But the share of countries in the European Union, made up of 28 countries, last year reached 50 per cent of Russia’s foreign trade turnover. In other words, Washington is unable to unleash an economic war against Russia without its European allies. Consequently, the main burden of the war, as always, will fall not on the New World, but the Old one. This is familiar to America. It is also familiar to Europe. To better understand how Russia’s trade partners in Europe might feel and behave in an economic war, we will use European, rather than Russian, statistics.
To begin with, we will give some general information on the EU’s involvement in international trade. In 2012, EU trade with the outside world amounted to €3,479 billion, of which €1,683 billion was on exports, and €1,796 on imports. Thus, the balance of the EU’s international trade registered a deficit equal to €113 billion. The EU’s most important partners were the US, China, Russia, Switzerland, and Norway. Traditionally, since the beginning of the 21st century at least, Europe has had a positive trade balance with the United States and Switzerland, and a negative trade balance with China, Russia and Norway. Imports from China include various industrial products, while imports from Russia and Norway are primarily energy products. In 2012, Russia’s share of EU exports equalled 7.3 per cent, while its share of imports was 12.0 per cent. For comparison: America’s share of EU exports in the same year amounted to 17.4 per cent, while its share of imports was 11.5 per cent. Russia’s share of imports and exports throughout the European Union is what is referred to as ‘the average temperature in hospital’. Figures vary widely for individual EU member countries. This is extremely important when it comes to assessing the possible repercussions of a trade and economic war, since some European countries may be unaware of the war already under way, whilst for others it could turn out to be a catastrophe – economically to begin with, then socially.
With that said, here are several tables compiled on the basis of official EU (Eurostat) and World Trade Organization (WTO) statistics for analysis.

The statistical data in Table 1 gives the list of countries in alphabetical order. The data in Table 1 can also be presented in the form of tables where the countries are arranged according to absolute (monetary) volumes of exports to Russia and imports from Russia. For a simpler understanding, these tables will only include the 12 largest importers and exporters. The 12 largest importer countries account for 84 per cent of all EU imports from Russia, while the 12 largest exporter countries account for 85.3 per cent of EU exports to Russia. Russia’s main European trading partners, importers and exporters of the European Union, are listed in Tables 2 and 3.

Four countries account for more than half of the total imports from Russia in 2013 – Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Poland. Interestingly, these four countries are also the European Union’s main exporters to Russia (accounting for more than half of EU exports to Russia). It is possible to suppose that it is these four countries that have been subjected to, and will continue to be subjected to, the most intense pressure from Washington regarding the introduction of European sanctions against Russia.
There are some countries whose share of EU trade with Russia is extremely small. These are not just out-of-the-way countries like Luxembourg, whose share is simply microscopic. Some relatively large EU countries also have low levels of trade with Russia. Portugal’s share of EU country imports from Russia in 2013 amounted to 0.5 per cent, while its share of exports was 0.2 per cent. One would think that the issue of economic sanctions against Russia is not that important for those European countries whose share of EU trade with Russia is relatively insignificant. But that is not the case, however. Even though the share of some countries in EU trade with Russia is extremely small, sanctions could still have a boomerang effect on these countries. This refers to small EU countries for whom Russia is one of the main trading partners, and primarily includes the Baltic states and certain countries that were once part of the socialist camp. EU member countries are finding themselves in very different positions in the trade war, and a strongly-marked asymmetry is emerging within the European Union: the blow to Russia needs to come from its main trading partners (Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Poland), while other EU member countries will suffer the greatest damage if Russia retaliates. There will be more on this later.
